
Dr. Joanne Max is a clinical psychologist with specialty in clinical neuropsychology. She has been in private practice in Atlanta since 1981. She graduated with honors from Vassar College with a double major in psychology and biopsychology. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Florida. She has held several offices in the Georgia Psychological Association and was appointed to serve on three committees of the State Bar of Georgia.
Dr. Max provides diagnostic testing, individual and family therapy. She concentrates in neuropsychological diagnostic assessment of children, adolescents and adults, who, due to a variety of medical problems, injuries, birth, developmental, or learning disorders have had difficulty with, or shown a change in mood or cognition.
She sees patients with head injuries, traumatic brain injuries, dementia, neurological or endocrine disorders (such as strokes, tumors, seizure disorders, autoimmune disorders, multiple sclerosis, diabetes) birth injuries, attention, concentration (ADHD), and learning disabilities. Dr. Max works collaboratively with physicians, psychologists, attorneys, educators, therapists, or allied health professionals in evaluating the needs of their clients. Dr. Max provides consultation services, independent medical/neuropsychological evaluations, Workers’ Compensation evaluations and treatment.
